TECHNICAL INFORMATION: Roof Insulation

Due to their excellent thermal insulation and resistance to the formation of condensation Onduline sheets are ideal for use in insulated roof systems.

Onduline Insulated Panel System

The simples way of upgrading the thermal performance of a roof is to incorporate insulation between the rafters. Rockwool or similar insulation is laid on an Ondutiss vapour check membrane and ceiling lining boards. Controlled ventilation to the underside of the Onduline sheet should be incorporated

Onduline under-purlin insulation system

If a higher insulation performance is required, proprietary ceiling lining panels can be suspended from the purlins to create a roof space in which to lay a vapour check and insulation
Onduline over-purlin warm roof system
Insulated boards laid over the rafters/purlins should be overlaid with battens fixed through the board to the support structure. These are then counter battened with Onduline support purlins fixed in accordance with the roof support section.

Onduline foam insulation system
Onduline sheet is suitable for use with most in situ and prefoamed insulation systems. For further details contact our technical department.

Flashing to cold vent pipes
Onduline universal soil pipe terminals are fitted with integral flashings dressed under the Onduline sheets at the rear, and over at the front. The terminal is secured by nailing each corrugation into additional support purlins front and rear.

Flashings to hot flue pipes up to 100°C

An independent sleeve should be incorporated around the hot flue allowing a 25mm gap. Mineral wool insulation should then be used to isolate the sleeve from the roof structure. A proprietary flashing plate and collar can be fixed to the pipe to make it completely weatherproof.
